What is dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is a form of psychological therapy, where client and therapist work together in a range of creative ways within a safe, confidential relationship.  Dramatherapy aims to help people to come to a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships and patterns of behaviour, and work towards making positive change in their lives.

The Sesame Institute describes Sesame Dramatherapy in the following way: "It is a non-confrontational therapy, based in the knowledge that difficulties are revealed indirectly or obliquely, through metaphor and using an inner language that is initially non-verbal. This symbol or image language is expressed through the use of movement, drama, touch, story enactment, improvisation, and use of voice, explored in a safe and playful environment."
